I'm supposed to be taking my MCAT a month from now (June 1), and though I've studied, I don't feel I'll be ready by my date. I'm applying this cycle and my GPA is on the low side so I could really use the advantage of getting reviewed as early as possible as well as getting the highest MCAT score that I can. I know I can submit my application without my scores for verification, but would I be able to submit my secondaries (which I heard usually come out the first week of July) without my MCAT score too? If I choose the June 30 date (the only date that has seats available near me), I won't get my score back until August 1st.

I wouldn't submit secondaries without MCAT as you most likely won't receive interview invites without an MCAT and may not even be offered secondaries without it. Push the MCAT back if you're not in that coveted 509+ range and that's what you're shooting for, submit your primary as you usually would in the meantime to ONE throwaway school, prewrite secondaries while you wait for your score to come back, submit your MCAT score on August 1st to every school, wait for secondaries to file in that week, submit these ASAP. August is still early contrary to popular belief.

According to what I've heard from other students and the overall consensus, most people would recommend getting your MCAT scores back prior to submitting secondaries. Most medical schools place high value in your MCAT score, and although it is not the only part of the application, it's still an important metric for schools to see where you lie in comparison to other applicants.

From personal experience, I don't think I ever felt completely "ready" to take the MCAT exam. However, as long as you felt you put sufficient time in content review and several practice exams, I think you should trust yourself and what you know and go for the June 1 administration. Plus, it's still a little less than 2 months away, so you still have plenty of time to lock-in!
