Changing MCAT dates

I am sure this question has been asked a million times, but I cannot seem to find the answer:
If I am signed up for the April MCAT, and I do not feel prepared to take it, can I switch to the August MCAT without losing a substantial amount of money? Do I have to do the whole postmarked letter 10 days before process, and then reapply for the August test.
