Is it as rampant in professional schools as it is in undergrad curriculum? Has anyone here in pharmacy school witnessed it or seen somebody get busted/expelled? I've never felt the need to cheat in college but I've seen tons of people do it.. especially in AA courses.

I've noticed the higher level the classes the lower the amount of obvious cheating due to risk of getting ratted out (nobody wants their curve screwed with)... and of course due to better integrity of the students. So is cheating still an issue even this high up on the scholar echelon?

We had two lab groups brought up on academic honesty violations this term. They didn't really cheat. We had a stupid assignment to go out and find prices and features of glucose meters, pregnancy tests, etc. Two groups combined their research to save time. They had to sign papers admitting their guilt. One more offense and they are gone. As for exams, I have not seen anyone cheat.

Supposedly someone in our class was caught cheating and they were "expelled." I had heard that the person may have been allowed back in this year's entering class, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Some group at my school got in trouble for downloading the answers to some homework problems from a textbook manufacturer's website. They were using them to double check their answers, not for copying, per se. They just had a chat with the dean.

One prof likes to flunk people for plagurism when she doesn't like their citation format. Lame!

well for us it depends on the person, the class, and the assignment...
and your definition of cheating

here you have to actually be busted in the act.... not just suspected and that is very very hard to do.

cheating on attendance quizzes was rampant for my class
i do know of some who cheated on larger exams too

and there is a girl who actually was busted for cheating and she was put into my class from a year ahead of me.

in my ethics class the professor had us all in 1 room (unusal b/c we usually are in 3) and no proctor whatsoever... tried to lay a guilt trip about this being an ethics class and she trusted us....

the funny part was that at no point during the course did we ever discuss ethics..... i believe there may have been a little academic dishonesty that day

Sorry to bump an old thread... saw this picture and it reminded me of some things I've seen in the past week of finals. 😳

My friend was accused of cheating by the professor b/c of this race (he assumed this)The professor failed him on the test but he petition to retake to prove that he didn't cheat. He got the petition approved and on the day of the re-take, he was surrounded by 7 faculities. He pass the test with 100%....and he earned the respect from the professor.
