I'm just wondering what can one expect on the section of the DAT. How difficult are the questions? I took the practice test on the kaplan book included cd and I felt the chem section was pretty tough. I half guessed one like half the questions. Are the chem questions this tough on the real test?

thanks

I remember thinking the same thing. On my actual test in May 2002 I actually had a question that asked which of the chemicals listed was a noble gas. Pretty easy stuff. I didn't have much to do with pka s or anything super tricky.

All in all I felt it was easier than the Kaplan/TopScore tests I took.

Good luck!

I remember my chem section on the DAT wasn't too bad. In fact i thought it was a lil too easy. I had only basic questions (I think I remember that noble gas question!). I had a bunch of balancing equations, one Henderson-hasselbach equation, no pka's, some stoicheometry, molarity/moloairty/normality questions, molar fractions, empirical formulas, mass formulas, and then determining periodic table stuff (metals, non-metals, transition metals)..........know that stuff.
The ochem was basic basic mechanisms. Grignard, Witting Reactions, Acid/Base, SN1/2, E1/2, chirality, isomerization, aromatics, naming, free rad. halogenation.......

its pretty decent, dont fret.
