if you havent' already, go to wwltv.com and listen to our glorious mayor's ridiculous MLK Day speech. between the Saints, Katrina, Blanco, and now our articulate city leader, i really wonder if we're cursed. I mean, does it get more ridiculous than this!!!!

Better than vanilla swirl city. I mean, c'mon... really.

all I can think of is that "land of chocolate" simpsons episode... yumm

:meanie: Yeah, the mayor of New Orleans is nuts. But then again the city was a sh-thole and the hurricane was the best thing that ever happened to it. I just hope they don't the squander the opportunity to clean up one of the worst cities in the America and turn it into a nice place to live, but I fear there is no hope for it because of all the whiny people who want things to go back to the way it was.

I thought you were talking about Penn State (Hershey, PA)

Mmmmm......formaldehyde!

if we're lucky, they'll make the levees out of caramel, and fortify the new med school building with Gingerbread.

Maybe the caramel will stand up better to flood waters than concrete.....

dude what he meant was that it's a mixture between rich dark chocolate and whole white milk blended together to create a beatiful, vibrant city. aaaah hahahahaha.

i know! after he got criticized for his statement this morning, he recanted by saying that chocolate is made by mixing white milk and lots of dark chocolate together.
i'm waiting for the "deez nuts" jokes to start rollin' in.

apparently, you need an IQ of 71 to be elected Mayor of New Orleans.

Beautiful and vibrant? Are we talking about the same city? New Orleans was (and will most likely be again) a crime ridden cesspool, with grotesque numbers of the poor and lazy, greedy and demanding but unwilling to do what is necessary to improve their stance in life. This goes for the "chocolate and the milk" alike.

Other than a cruise ship port and the debacle that is Mardi Gras there was nothing that seperated New Orleans from other bottom tier cities and parts of cities such as Southeast DC; Gary, Indiana; Detroit; South Central LA; etc, etc, etc.

Hey...stop generalizing. You forgot to add that New Orleans also provided the most drunk/high girls in Girls Gone Wild. *Wooohooooo.....takes off top*

Oh boy, that's something that makes it a world class city.

praetorian, stop trolling. or at least find something better to do in Indiana. i'd take the cesspool, crime-ridden, rotting city of NOLA any day over the midwest. we're 3rd World and proud down here.

Praetorian,
How much time have you spent in NOLA? You seem to have an insiders knowledge that could only be obtained through years of first hand experience or an uninformed opinion. As a New Orleans native, I can't defend the mayors comments, but the city itself is a vibrant and beautiful city full of history and culture. Following the storm their is a spirit of hope and pride in the city, and many of us are still proud to call it home. Granted it has its setbacks but there few places like it, and none as unique.

little does nagin know that WHITE chocolate is just as legitimate a form of chocolate as the other kinds. that's ignorant.

I, for one, take offense to pretty much everything you've said. I'm a Louisiana native, who has been living in New Orleans for the past 4 years.

I lost absolutely everything that I owned...and it "was the best thing that ever happened"? You are an dingus.

Sounds like you've spent about zero time in New Orleans pre-katrina. Granted there is a large majority of the city that is poor, uneducated, and welfare dependent. I was not one of them. The people who want the city to go back to the way it was were the people that were given paychecks to have babies.

I don't want them here...just as much as any normal person does.

I live in uptown new orleans, i'm not sure if you've ever visited...but to call it a sh_thole is quite a large oversite. I suggest you know what you're talking about before you open your ignorant mouth.

LMAO @ the topic.

Boy is Nagin a bad speaker. What an idiot for blaming the black community and America for God 'sending' NOLA a hurricane. Idiot.

I think you mean the other way around - the ones that had babies just to get paychecks? Lol now I have this picture of the city buyin people off to get them to make more babies.

I happen to live in Indiana but I don't consider this my home. I'm only here for school then I'm gone. This place has lots of problems although we don't see the same level of wholesale crap seen in NO.

As for the "best thing" comment, I meant it in the sense that it provided the impetus for much needed improvements in large parts of the city. As for the losses suffered by you and others, that's too bad and you have my sympathies.

I spent 4 weeks in New Orleans with friends who were down there for school and while there were small parts of the city that were OK, most of what I saw was run down, decrepit. By your own admissions there is a poor majority that is the source of the trouble- these are the people I spoke out against, not those who actually want to improve things. The trash who want to lead a parasitic existence can kiss my butt. I'll do anything I can to help the rest of you all- if I didn't I would have just suggested razing the city and starting from scratch (which is a common "answer" suggested around here).

Nope...that's the way I meant it. New Orleans' metro area is very much a welfare state. The more babies you have, the bigger your welfare check.

Yeahhhhh....I am am afr. amer. and when I heard that I fell out laughing. That was his version of a sunday sermon in chuuuuuurch. It was kind of lame that he was saying that. But hey, he is charismatic. He was playing towards the emotions of the crowd. He knows that that is what most black people (especially the NO) want to hear.

There was one good point to what he was saying about how we are the first ones to claim "foul" but half the time we are the ones allowing our children to grow up with no manners/education (I forget what he said exactly).

In terms of God getting back at them...I'll leave that one alone.

OH MY!!! 4 Weeks!!! Give this guy a medal!!! It sounds like you're doing the same backpeddaling as our mayor. I was rather angry about your prior posts, but now I know it's just because you don't know any better, kinda like a two year old. Until you have lived in NOLA, you will NEVER understand what's make NOLA so special. You will always be an outsider, making off the cuff remarks about things you know nothing about. Every city has its bad points, but I suggest the next time you want to point these out you don't use words like, "sh*thole," becasue the only one who looks like a sh*thole is YOU.

👎 Grow a spine and take it like it is.

I think this is a funny thread.....even though we (LSUHSC-NO) are in the Red Stick....not " Chocolate City"

Clearly he's confusing NOLA with DC

Hey, I agreed with ya 🙂. And Rayhan, of course. I probably could have listed ranting about Bush as one of my extracurriculars.

I just can't believe that nobody seems to really care that the government is secretly listening to our conversations, has kept prisoners in Cuba for SIX years now without charging them or letting them see a laywer, and has been torturing people in prisons around the world.

Doesthat not scare anyone else, or are we too busy watching Lost and stuffing our faces to pay attention. 😕

Considering many many people voted for Bush for his "Christian values", I don't think a lot of these same people want to admit that they were duped in this regard (how I don't know, it was right in front of their faces), so they just choose to ignore it. Just my opinion, though.

Partially the latter. Partially Americans just think it's cool to torture people as long as they're the bad guys, and they don't deserve lawyers anyway because they're out to get us. Oh yeah, and how in the world will we be kept safe if the government can't listen to my brother's phone conversations? After all, he's been arrested for civil disobedience and protesting before!

Hee hee, if they decide to tap my phone some NSA guy is going to get very bored listening to hours of conversation with my mom about the details of my wedding next summer, from the style of shoes the bridesmaids will be wearing to how I will do my hair to what song my fiance and I will dance to. Just the kind of stuff a man loves to hear about. :meanie:

I saw the footage...Bush was down there with sticks of dynamite getting ready to blow the levies in the middle of a cat. 4. He did it because he hates all black Americans, especially the poor ones. :meanie: :meanie: :meanie:
So typical...
