So I misread this last night--I thought shorty was talking about filling out a big-ass spreadsheet including reads and timing of votes and whatnot. I did that last game (when I was scum) and it took waaaay too much time. I will almost certainly keep track of tallies though, the inner mod in me is too compulsive to not have some idea of where the votes stands, even without threat of the hammer.

I was actually just walking into the office and weighing the pros and cons of going back and re-reading last night to see how it looks like not in real time BUT SOMEONE FINISHED ALL OF THE OFFICE COFFEE AND NOW I HAVE TO WALK TO BUY STARBUCKS LIKE A PLEBE

Some morning thoughts b4 I have to leave for school: I'm taking fruit and Clem off of today's yeet list bc I really don't think either of them is scum currently.
Kitz and rae both have my interest atm - kitz bc of her reaction to shorty's aff exercise (I don't know if that was confusion or slight scum panic). Rae because I'm mildly suspicious of her claim that she used vanillager for aff. This may be a "beans not understanding CYO strategy" thing so if it is feel free to smack me but literally so many people have either discarded vanillager OR claimed to use it as aff - how likely is it that that many players were offered it as a role?

I had to ask my DMs if i was actually allowed to share my role haha

That might be what @supershorty is doing, but I do legit think Zenge was quick to try and throw sus on other players. Not the only one, but it was loud to me.

I'm historically not good at reading alissa, so I'm not sure how to feel about my gut vibe on her right now, but I'm leaning her slightly village and I historically always wolf read her, so maybe I'll trust the vibe for now

I'm gonna slightly back off on this, because going back to re-read the thread open... the pattern of voting is off for fruits. There is usually some sort of rhyme or reason on why fruits places a vote to put pressure on someone, here it looks like a lot of noise. Voting for multiple people who haven't even checked in, and then moving on before they do, is weird, even by fruits standards.

Actual content of posts when they offer thoughts is pretty good though. So move them to unsure group.

From my perspective, having never played with fruit but modded some of the games he's played, I feel like that level of vote throwing is less likely to be scum-motivated because it's very attention-getting and he never stayed on anyone long enough for anything resembling a wagon to form. I don't see a lot of benefit for scum to do that, especially in this game where scum can just scum hunt like they're village because THEY don't know what else is in the game either.

Since I've never been particularly good at reading alissa, I want to try and explore her thought processes more, because sleeping on it didn't leave me with any more solid understanding of why I feel like she's towny when I've never felt that way before.

As a counterpoint, it would perhaps be easier for a scum-fruit to replicate his village meta (this is not just true for him but true for pretty much everyone) of bouncing around wildly when he can be pretty sure there is other scum to hunt (though in theory I suppose a CYO game could end up not being multiball?)

As a counterpoint to my counterpoint, that's still somewhat dangerous to do if he has partners since he's so reluctant to vote for them.

I haven't read like any of fruit's posts, I'm just being contrarian and double contrarian for fun.

It didn't start out as real - HOWEVER, it became real because I don't buy that his interaction with CeeGee was genuine. I'd forgive that interaction from someone who hadn't played CYO before, but not from Zenge, who has, and who historically has a pattern as scum of pushing people I would consider low-hanging fruit. CeeGee has always been sketchy in each game I've watched her play in (I don't mean that in an offensive way, CeeGee, to be clear) and I think would be a relatively easy push.

Now, he didn't continue to push it, but it would have been difficult to given that it was verifiable that the role exists on the list. It was his initial reaction that gave me a ping, and while small, it's the most significant thing I have right now.

It is worth noting that from my observations, Zenge's play since WW restarted on SDN has been quite different from how he previously played, so I'm not sure this is still a valid way to read him. However. He made my nose hairs tickle.

Anyway, was drafting this in my role PM earlier for the people who haven't played CYO before.

Strategic things I've learned from previous CYOs:

Each time I've played CYO, it's been encouraged (first year by someone else, second year by me) for everyone to claim what role they used for AFFILIATION pretty early on. I wasn't sure about it the first year, but last year, it caught multiple people in lies (well, multiple people in the same lie lol #googate22 #electricgoogaloo). I will keep track of claims and make a public list once EVERYONE has claimed - if you want to keep track on your own, feel free, but PLEASE DO NOT POST A LIST OR RUNNING LIST UNTIL EVERYONE HAS CLAIMED, as it will make it harder to catch someone in a lie.

THIS IS TALKING ABOUT YOUR CHOICE FOR AFFILIATION, NOT ABILITY. DO NOT CLAIM YOUR ABILITY ROLE.

I used miller for my affiliation.

Also, I don't find speculation based on discards to be super helpful - if someone hates being scum and they discarded a scum role, for example, you don't know that they discarded it in favor of choosing a town role; they may just have rolled 3 scum. I don't think there's NO information to be gained from looking at people's discards - after all, you can help rule out some roles in the game pending what was discarded, but use a lot of caution attributing anything about affiliation to a discard choice.
