I am trying to decide between two strong M.D./Ph.D. programs: Mayo Medical School and Wash U. The advantages that I see in Mayo are that it is clinically probably the best and 2nd years are in clinic so you get really good hands-on experiences before going off to the lab. However, there are relatively few labs to choose from for the Ph.D. portion. (I'm not convinced that this is really critical because, after all, you only end up with one thesis lab.) I like the fact that the program is small and everyone at Mayo loves to teach. Wash U, on the other hand, has a ton of top investigators, as well as a strong clinical program. I'm not as familiar with their programs but I was impressed at the interview and it seems as though they are overall top-notch. The students seem very cohesive.

I was just hoping that someone could offer their own opinions that might help me in making my decision.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!
