I am either choosing between biomedical engineering program at St. John's University or biology major at Fordham University. I am interested in doing research/volunteering too during my years in undergraduate. I am confused where to go because I love St. John's social atmosphere but the rank is not as great but Fordham has a great rank, many people going prestigious medical schools, and campus is beautiful. I am not sure of Fordham's social atmosphere. Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated.

Choosing based on rank is a bad idea.

Go where you will be happy. From what you said, it sounds like you would like St. John's better.

Couldn't agree more. The ranking isn't going to decide whether or not you're going to like an environment. Go where you think you'll be the happiest, because that's ultimately where you'll be motivated the most, and thus do the best.

And for support, I chose the lesser ranked university as well. Didn't quite love UVA, but appreciated the eclectic and diverse vibe at George Mason 🙂

Echoing everyone else here who said to ignore rank and go with whatever will make you happier 🙂

But may I add that you should also consider which one is more financially practical?

My advice is to try not to borrow more than 20K for your entire ugrad education.

did you get money from either of these schools? ..if so how much? what does the TOTAL COST of each school come out to. Did to apply to Stony Brook?

There is no real difference between St. johns and Fordham, especially for pre-med. Go to the cheaper one, if they both cost the same, then go to the one you feel most comfortable with.
