After a chromosomal translocation occurs, how do these new derivative chromosomes know how to line up at metaphase?
After a translocation happens to a chromosome it isn't the same anymore and so how does it know how to find its homologous partner?
My hunch is that the centromere has recognition abilities but I'm not to sure...
Can anybody help me understand this? thanks!
