I will likely do an allopathic PGY1 prelim year in medicine (I applied for EM this year, was chosen for civ def Trans. Yr but told I could do prelim med or surg, as well).

Anyway, I am doing prelim Med, and I'm thinking now afterward of continuing onward in medicine or applying for neurology.

My question is: osteopathic student, allopathic PGY1: do I take the COMLEX 3 ONLY, or also USMLE? Does it matter?

My guess is I only need the COMLEX since it's for licensing and I'm an osteopathic student, but I just want to make sure. Also, I know my score won't be available once I reapply, so I don't need a USMLE for measuring me up against allopathic students in next year's match.

So I guess, like I said, I'm just making sure.

Thanks, all.

COMLEX 3 will suffice.
