Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
mine still says "ready for review" 😡

Theres always tomorrow 👍. Man I think i did like 10 secondaries today these things suck. Only 10 more to go then im all done!! 🙂. Lets hope they dont change. Off to get my son now bye everyone.

Seriously, how many people applied between when AMCAS opened and about 10pm that night? Is the number of submissions during that time the reason why it is taking me so damn long? I realize that it doesn't make a difference, but it just makes me pessimistic that there's something wrong since I've been 'in line' for the last two days. They're killing me, and probably because I actually have a job and was working when the thing opened. Sorry, just venting - after all, isn't that what SDN is for?

Exactly what it's for. Someone posted last year's LSU-NO secondary stuff in our thread if you are interested in checking it out. 🙂

im working on making my own spreadsheet, but without an accepted column

:laugh::laugh:

I hope not, man. I'm sure you'll have some success.

I hate the stupid MCAT wait. The end

At least you're done. I'm still in the pre-MCAT phase... I don't take it until July 17th. I wish I was just waiting for my score right about now (although I probably won't be saying that after the 17th).

 You messed up your test date!? Ksmi busted you! 😛

So you're taking on the 17th as well? How's the studying coming?

it's true i forgot my test date. how embarrasing.

but...i'm taking it July 2. my studying is going as scheduled. how's your studying coming?

i was dealing with some personal issues
that was stealing my life away 🙁

I feel ya on that🙁...though i have less and less to deal with that as the days go by! Glad youre back 😉

How's your studying coming along?

Go Lakers!

It's good. My PS is coming along, slowly but surely. My BS is decent, so I just study that as a break, and verbal as every day event. Still can't seem to break the 11 barrier... I just over analyze everything.

It's all good, especially if you're not even taking it that day. 😉

Nice, man. I'm glad to hear it's coming along for you. (see above).

Just be sure you show up on the right day. :meanie:

yay for life getting back to normal 🙂

Nice, I'm glad to hear you got your stuff settled, Chinook. 👍

11 on Verbal is all good. You'll be fine.

Better than I ever did on a practice.

We'll see. If passages are as long on the real deal as people are making them out to be I might be in trouble. I'm a slow reader, so I'm not sure I'll finish in time if the passages go too long.

But oh well. We'll see.

Oh, and I'd kill for your 12 in PS Bryson. My PS is not all that hot yet.

you know what Elijah, i called Loma Linda today and in the MSAR they say they waive the secondary but they told me that i have to fill out a form and they rarely giive waivers. isn't this weird?

i was told that VR, it's better to get a lot right than finish all 7 passages. 30/40 is better than 28/40. but somehow i always feel compelled to finish all 7. guess that didn't work the first time around.

PS is ok but i messed up on that too. shame on me.

My second time with the MCAT will be personal!!!

Well PS was to me as BS is to you. I'd study that for a break from the other stuff. I wanted to get higher on PS, and I was never lower than 13 on my practices, but I guess the PS on my exam was a hard one for me. It's funny b/c I had a passage on vacuum tubes. I did my senior thesis on vacuum tubes, so I should have known most of the questions in that passage at least.

I told some other med applicants at my school that I already submitted my AMCAS and I was starting to work on secondaries and berated me for being a liar. Look what SDN did to me.

We're all gunners.

Clearly, they are not sufficiently informed. You will show them the light.

We're all gunners.

Nah, if you were a gunner, you wouldn't post. You'd be undermining us in the shadows and the depths.

Yeah, what ksmi said. Plus they screen secondaries, so if they don't like me, I only waste $30, and I can afford to waste that much for a shot at getting reallly lucky with a ridiculously good school. But ksmi has a more legit reason to apply, since she's like God and everything. I have a lot of reaches and I'm not afraid to admit it. I think I have good reasons for applying to all of my reaches and not all of my state schools (at least to me).

very weird but that whole school is messed up. All i know is most every school im applying to will take the waiver and wont give me odd problems like baylor or loma linda lol. You and me are applying to very very different schools and the texas schools and loma linda arent your typical schools so i dont know how fap will work for you.

That's pretty solid either way you cut it though, man. I'm going to pray to the Physical Sciences gods on July 17th and hope they have mercy on my poor soul.

The test is all BS anyways.

Couldn't agree more.

You can get above an 11 on VR???? 😕

😉

Ha ha. No I can't. I'm actually hovering on the 10/11 cusp for VR. It's not a solid 11, that I would feel better about.

its the ONLY thing hot on my app 😀

Ha ha. You should fix your MDapps.

good luck. i doubt you'll need it.

we apply to a few of the same schools. loma linda is weird but i still like it. TX schools, we only have 5 that requires a secondary. I.e. TX A&M have waivers but you have to be insanely poor...like below poverty level to get it. might as well pay $50 for it. UTSW is free for all applicants.

damn amcas keeps sending me e-mails warning me i didnt assign any letters to schools

im waiting for the damn secondaries you bastards

I love how everyone's talking about being on the 10/11 cusp of various MCAT sections on practice AAMCs. I remember when I was taking some practice tests, I was lucky to get an 8 in any section. My practice scores decreased from 25 to 24 to 22 before I gave up on practicing and then took the damn test. I guess I just don't practice well, but show up a bit better for the game. Most people talk about scores going down, I feel really bad for people being optimistic and then, ouch. Because really, shouldn't you expect to score around practice, barring horrible test day distractions?

I think a lot of it is nerves getting to people. Congrats on the awesome increase on the real deal! Did you go all out for the practices? I know that's one of the reasons my practices were so much lower. I was kinda half-assing them. Taking sections in between classes and such.

oh man, these words really hit home for me...my score was 5 points lower than aamc practice test averages. i got my score back about 3 weeks ago, and i'm still not over it. way to gouge open a scabbing wound!

I definitely half-assed them. I pretty much half-assed the entire MCAT studying period except for the last 2 weeks. Probably the thing that saved my ass was the subliminal memory of AudioOsmosis that I listened to everyday during the 20 minute work commute. I could have done so much better if I wasn't lazy. That's what I get for letting it hang over my head the whole summer, I should have taken it earlier in the summer and been more hardcore about it.

Sorry about that, I regretted that after I posted it since some people had that happen to them. Just remember to change the dressings occasionally.

I didn't half-ass my practice tests. I took them dead seriously.

same here dude dont worry. I was getting 32-35 on my practices ended up with a 29 -_-.....still bitter! lol but i cant stand restudying for that trash, so i just decided to apply and pray someone looks past it and at the other strengths of my app.
