Nearly the end of 2nd week of med school for me and I can sort of feel the pinch now of how much studying we have to do.
 
bump: biochem is so daunting until you've learned it really well, at which point it becomes almost fun...right now, I'm at the daunting stage with >100 pages in the biochem textbook to read before I can even start to tie in endocrinology for my PBL presentation for tomorrow... not to mention the damn embryology that has once again reared its ugly head in this damn integrated curriculum...damn!
 
First exam tomorrow. Who has time for TV?

(is watching Lost in Translation and reading SDN)

We got our med school backpacks today. One of the last schools in Canada to finally get them. 😎
 
So, last week we had our summative exam for Unit 1 (we have an integrated curriculum). I was worried all week about my grades and we got them back this evening. I destroyed that sonnabeech. Yayuh.
 
Woohoo, 93% out of 80% average. I r smart 😎

Also, hiking backpacks are useful... I find that they don't fall apart when you stuff Netter's + laptop + three classes worth of notes into them. I had a backpack-falling-apart experience in high school and that wasn't fun..

Had our pectoral region dissection today. Some profs told us that some of the cadavers had pacemakers and not to cut it unless they wanted to get shocked. They said that if you see an imprint through the skin to call one of the TAs first. They also said that pacemakers explode if you put them in the furnace for cremation...

Also, one of the groups had breast implants in the cadaver. I thought that was pretty awesome.

2 groups at my school had cadavers with breast implants. One with silicone, one with saline. Gotta love the donors in LA.

I told one of my profs that every person should come with their own personalized Netters, after finding a lot of stupid variation in my cadaver. It would make surgery a lot easier, I feel.

Also, embryology can suck it. What an inefficient way of making people!
 
I spent 5 hours on one case and then almost got hit by a car speeding through a red light and then slamming on its brakes and spinning around. I'm now eating cookies. I deserve it.

Also, less than 2 weeks until first exam. :scared: We only have two exams/unit. 😕:scared:

Same here, it's daunting. Ours were this week, so glad that's over!

I know how you feel with having big exams, my school does the same thing. I liked it at first but now realize that just means you have to remember everything for longer.

I need a ton of med school/anatomy/medicine cartoons from you guys...you're so much better at that stuff than I am.
 
I've never been so anxious to get exam grades. I am positive I failed or got close to failure, but there is a large hope that I did extremely well... and therefore, I don't want to change my study habit or meet with the professor until I know for certain.

It's been exactly 7 days since I took this scantron biochem exam.
still no grades.
