Hi all,

I've taken Gen chem and gen bio, I'm going to register for junior year courses in a couple weeks so I need some help. I plan on taking the MCATs at the end of spring or early summer, and applying for med school that summer also (this is if I can get my courses lined up ok). I plan on taking for jr year: organic chem, animal physiology, and genetics (I hear these are good classes to prepare me for MCAT). I think Physics is needed also for the MCAT, but I'm afraid it will be make for a tough year and hurt my gpa. But if I don't then I might be a semester behind. So should I cram the courses in, to be prepared for a summer MCAT or perhaps do a 5 year bachelor's (I have a scholarship that extends to 5 years for bachelors).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Go for the 5 years. There's no reason to cram everything in if you can just as easily spread it out.

Do medical schools look as this as negative if I complete my bachelor's in 5 years as opposed to the so called "average" 4 years?

Maybe, but even if so, not as much as getting a lower gpa/mcat. I'd stay in college, it's way more fun anyways.

Beat me too it. It's not worth cramming the classes in if you can avoid it. It will help you in the long run. Trust me.
