I know this should probably be in the DAT forum but NOBODY goes there and I would like this answered by people that have already taken the DAT...most of the people that check the DAT forum have not take it yet...so with that said I hope this doesn't get moved to the DAT forum...at least not until i get a reply or two
😀

These are my questions:
1. Does the kaplan book do a thorough job of covering the classification stuff for the DAT? If I know all the stuff related to classification in that book is it safe to say I'll be able to answer most if not all classification questions I get on the DAT? I really hate having to memorize it but am willing to memorize more if it'll help me on the exam.

2. Did most of you memorize the carrier proteins for the Electron Transport Chain in respiration and photosynthesis? Has anyone received questions on the exam which required this knowledge? I don't want to have to memorize them if there's little chance of them showing up on the exam.

Thanks in advance!!!

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, I felt the Kaplan book did a wonderful job in the area of classification. The questions on the DAT regarding this won't be difficult, they'll just be straightforward. Learn this section, chances are you'll have a couple questions from this material.

2. I memorized everything regarding metabolism! I wasn't sure what the odds were of me having a question that related to specific carriers in the transport chain, but I didn't want to leave anything up to chance. I'm not sure many people have questions inolving the ETC carriers on their exams, but you can be hella sure there are questions about metabolism.

Once again, I'd learn it all. Better to learn it all and have a cake-walk exam than to not learn it and see your score go down several points because of it.

Just put yourself in the mindset that you are already in dental school, where you have to memorize and learn an insane amount of material in a short time, even if you don't see the potential benefit (other than scoring well) to doing so. That mindset will help you cram it all in there AND prep you for dental school.

Good luck, and memorize the Kaplan book!
