Dear Medical Students:

Chance to Smile is a non-profit society (EIN 20-8108998) founded to:

* Raise awareness about the facial developmental abnormalities of Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate.

* Educate the public about these conditions in hopes to reduce the social stigma associated with them.

* Gain support to develop volunteer-run medical mission programs to provide the needy with cleft repair surgeries free of charge.

* Serve as an information portal of those interested in learning about these conditions.

* And to let those who suffer from these deforming abnormalities know that we care and we want to help you.

In addition to providing information and raising awareness about the deforming facial developmental abnormalities of Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate, one of our main goals is to develop medical mission programs whereby with the help of our volunteers we would provide cleft repair surgeries free of charge to those in need.

One out of every 700 child is born with a cleft. In many societies they are shunned and isolated. In addition to the biological defects, early in life these children have to deal with many psychosocial issues such as social anxiety, loneliness, depression, and alienation from their peers. We can all help make life easier for these children.
