Can you get away with working full time and having clinic no more than 1 or 2 days a week with any of the medicine subspecialties?

It depends on the subspecialty. If you did pulmonary/critical care, interventional cardiology, or possibly GI, then you could reasonably only do 1-2 clinic days/week while still working full-time. Specialties such as rheum, endocrine, and renal are primarily outpatient specialties, so it would be difficult to get down to such a small amount of clinic time if you are doing full time practice. Also, you can be a hospitalist and have no clinic at all.

Hospitalist!
