I was wondering if anyone has used the moore text clinical blue boxes for the main anatomy study in addition to maybe FA? They seem really clear and well explained with pictures and it seems you could easily get through all of them quite easily, diong maybe 10 a day or so as review.. anyone have comments on this compared to say using a review book that has more random facts and landmarks?

yah i'd like to know about that too.. i was thinking of doing the exct same thing!!

anyone know how 'good' this correlates w/ the actual topics on the exam.

thanks.

p.s. i'm referring to BIG moore, but of course only the blue boxes. 😀

I actually tried using the blue boxes and got through about two chapters and then got bored with them 😀 . Half of gross anatomy on my step was stuff covered in First Aid, and the other half was information NOT covered in review texts (such as landmarks and anatomical relationships). Sometimes you just have to gut it out.

So in short, blue boxes might be useful, but they'll probably just detail the same things you'd get in HY anatomy or First Aid. And again, you might get quite a few anatomy questions that no review book will help you prepare for. Just hope you don't get many anatomy questions 🙂

Yeah, I got some gross anatomy questions, maybe 5 out of 15, that were no where to be found in any of the standard review textbooks. (Afterwards I googled them and found that they were common musculoskeletal problems encountered by general practitioners all the time.) Don't know if they are covered in Moore's blue boxes but doubt it. Even if they were, Moore almost certainly wouldn't go into the DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS for similarly presenting complaints, which is what you'd need to answer some of these anat questions, if you get a tough anat section.

Overall, likely didn't affect my score much and I'm not too worried about it, but it was a little annoying, ya know. I know a super bright dude from last year's class at my school that scored in the 260's and even he said that many of the anat questions were wack and he simply had to go with what made the most sense at the time.
