Ok

I've been researching the requirements for some residency programs and have noticed that there are some programs that specify "IFMGs must have Clinical Experience in a US Teaching Hospital".

I would love to know if any of you have encountered this proviso and if so, how do you go about gaining such clinical experience.

Should one contact a friend or faculty member in a US teaching hospital and ask them to let you access hospital work gratis?

Please, help!

😕

To increase your chances of residency (and in this case to have a chance at all at this particular school) you should do externships or elective terms at residency programs you may be interested in. Many departments differ in how they do this. Some may have programs set up and others you will have to inquire about by email/phone. They usually consist of 4 to 8 week terms in which you go to the teaching hospital and learn under residents/attending physicians. Generally, you have to be a 4th year med student. Good luck!

Green book = teaching

keep in mind that your best bet is NOT at a hospital
where there are faculty.

it is at a satelite hospital that you want tocall

green book status but now pitbull school admins or risk managers to shoot your prospects down

good luck to you

Just noticed your location

Unibe

i was there in 99

were you?

Thanks for your responses. It has been helpful.

Iamubiquitous: I am in UASD. If you were here in '99, does that mean that you graduated UNIBE that year?

I have already started contacting some peeps regarding this whole internship/externship stuff. Should this be handled through my medical school or can I channel this on my own?

Will they give me a letter and grade me during this rotation?
