What exactly does this term mean? I have volunteered in the hospital on the nursing unit and although I got to interact with patients a lot, I haven't seen any procedures except for blood tests, etc. Is this considered clinical exposure? What kind of medical procedures were you able to see while volunteering (Not shadowing)? I have a secondary question that asks to describe clinical experience and I realized that I might not have anything to put there.

That is exactly it...when they mention clinical experience and to write about it they do not expect most pre-meds to have actual hands-on patient experience for only nurses/techs/docs/etc can do this. What they want to know is do you have any medical related experience from either observation or like what you mentioned so you know what this may entail. So you are fine.
