Hello everyone,
I was looking at the DMU website and noticed all the clubs they have. Most of them seemed very interesting. I know the dues to join may be a limiting factor but how many clubs can you participate in (actively) and still have time for everything else? Do most clubs require some participation or can you pay the money and consider yourself a member?

Thanks

to answer your question directly - at NYCPM you can pay the dues $5-$20 per club far all the clubs and call yourself a member. But not an active memeber.

My oppinion - this defeats the purpose of joining a club. ou should only join what you genuinly have an interest in and can actively contribute to.

I did not mean to sound like I wanted to pay the dues just to say I'm a member of a club. I guess I wanted to know from pod students what is realistic as far as time is concerned. Do most students feel they can join 2-3 clubs (or would it be more or less) and still maintain academics and contribute to the clubs? How many clubs is realistic?

In that case I think it depends on time management on your part. Some peole do better when they are busier and only have a finite amount of study time - I am one of those people.

In my case I was active in student council and still am, was VP of a club, and active member of a few other clubs. And it depends on how active the clubs are.

I was a member of all of the clubs, including AAWP!

I was wondering if anyone attending Scholl knows anything about a soccer league at the university...if there is one. If not...anyone interested? Attending fall 2007.

I don't play soccer, so I don't know all the details. I do know that people play soccer games all the time. And there is some talk of a league that is not campus related people can join. But a lot of people play pick up soccer games in the summer/good weather times.

I play soccer! Well, back in high school. I have friends from Libertyville that played high school soccer, I'll ask them if they know anything, even like an indoor place to play around there.

I would love to play some soccer while in pod school. Krabmas, is it true the sports med club at NYCPM has regular games at Central Park? Any of the other pod schools have sports teams??? Thanks

I play with the soccer team at OCPM - we play in a co-ed indoor soccer league against a bunch of teams from Case Western Reserve Univeristy and The Cleveland Clinic - its always 3 guys and 3 girls on the field...and we play monday nights as its always a blast for everyone

Awesome! Glad to hear so much support from fellow future pods...I'll keep your posts in mind.

My opinion on clubs, and this is probably different at the other schools, is I support anything podiatric at DMU. If a club is bring in speakers an having events those things cost money and the club budgets are from club dues.

If I was to only join one, it would be SCACFAS b/c they are hands down the most active club on the DMU campus. But as I stated, I personally support them all at least financially.

the guys that live at draper and some others play at a field across the street. This weekend there was a game at Chelsea peirs.

Last summer we played on a field on the west side near the west side highway.

Some people join leagues in the city to play more.

If you are a girl...my girlfriend has started a team for Scholl ladies in an all womens league outside of school. Otherwise, there are co-ed intramurals. Soccer is huge here.

👍 That's good news...thanks for the post!
