I blame all the physicians prescribing cocaine to their patients as the reason for the huge increases in cocaine usage.

Damn physicians are making addicts all over the place.

If you trace the cocaine prescriptions to increased cocaine usage among patients, there is a clear correlation between these factors.

Has nothing to do with the breakdown of the economy, divorce rates, broken families, etc right?

divorce rates way down.

stick to the facts -- your editorials are all over the map -- and dont add the ("cool story, bro". it wasnt funny the first time, it wont be funny the 100th time. its just condescending)

Economy is doing well? Then explain:

https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2016/06/the-missing-men/488858/

Labor participation rate is at all time lows for working age males and 30 year lows for females.

Divorce rates are only down because MARRIAGE IS DOWN big time:

http://nypost.com/2014/09/09/single-adults-now-outnumber-married-adults/

First time in recorded history that singles outnumbered married.

Other interesting facts include lower per capita incomes of millenials than parents despite their "college" educations, usually in fluff subjects like LGBT or Women's studies.

http://fortune.com/2014/07/08/millennial-employment/

Debt levels for college grads are at all time highs:

Things are looking bleak, particularly for middle aged and younger people.

But cool story in lacking the facts bro

Is it your contention that physicians have not significantly contributed to the opioid epidemic?

My contention is that the problem is INDEPENDENT of physicians and will continue to get worse regardless of narcotic restrictions from physicians.

However, I fully support physicians taking a more aggressive approach towards UDS findings, Behavorial therapy, medication shopping patterns, etc.

Just under no illusion that the problem is largely a societal issue independent of physicians mostly.

your thesis that increased cocaine rates are due to the "breakdown of the economy" and increases divorced rates is could not be more wrong.

divorce rates are the lowest in 40 years:

http://time.com/4575495/divorce-rate-nearly-40-year-low/

there are a million different economic indicators, but the fed thinks the economy is strong enough to raise interest rates. certainly, the economy is better now than it was 7 or eight years ago.

cocaine use may be up -- support your argument with legitimate facts. otherwise, do us all a favor and just post the article. ill get my slanted news from someone other than drcommonsense

Story checks out.

I just elucidated why the "divorce rate" is down: Formation of MARRIAGES is at ALL TIME LOWS ON RECORD.

Ergo, the touted "decreased divorce rate" has to be taken as part of a society where marriages aren't being formed and there are more "single" people than married for the FIRST time in RECORDED AMERICAN history.

Outside of the stock market increases, using what metric is the economy doing well? The stock market gains are largely only concentrated in the hands of the top few percentage points of the society.

Nominal Wages? Far lower now than 30 years ago adjusted for inflation, particularly for males.
Cost of Education? 500% higher than 30 years ago adjusted for inflation
Cost of Healthcare? 300% higher adjusted for inflation.
Employment? There is ALL TIME LOWS for employment among working aged males and 30 year lows for females.

Please let me know where ANY of my metrics are wrong and point to where the economy is "doing well".

Even usage of ANTIDEPRESSANTS are SKYROCKETING among women in particular:

http://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/...-antidepressant-use-by-americans-201110203624

Sounds like a very health society indeed from a family, economic or social standpoint.

Cool story bro.

I read somewhere all these issues started during the early 2000s, like 2001-2008.

Very cool since we can blame liberals for this as POTUS at that time was... oh snap...

Didn't just blame Obama bro.

Clinton, Bush and Obama were the three worst Presidents in history, however, Obama somehow even made Bush look good.

Scary crap how Obama was the President who presided over the biggest drop in standards of living coupled with highest total increase in debt over his 8 years as President.

Democrats and RHINOs are a deadly combo.
