Hi guys
I have a question...Right now I'm a junior and just starting to worry about MCAT and figuring out what med school I'd like to go to...Anyway, when I was in high school I took a bunch of classes at the local community college. To make a long story short, the technology classes at my high school were for college credit. My senior year in high school, I had to withdraw from all my college courses (personal reasons). Eleven of my courses transferred to my undergrad and counted as basic requirement classes including my years worth of english, history and a couple other requirement for my school. The classes that I withdrew from about 5 didn't transfer but are W's on my community college transcript. Is this going to be a problem when I apply to med school?

if you're worried, explain it. Also, on your transcript, it should appear as W's , but on the date you took them, they'll probably notice that it was during high school. So, you can still also mention something about the reason, medical , or whatever on your amcas essay. Or if you mention grades and study habits you can throw a mention into those W's. Really i wouldn't worry too much, but would give it a sentence of explanation

thanks!

If you got college credit for it (even a W), then it goes onto the AMCAS application. However, you shouldn't worry too hard about Ws from high school. If the rest of your academic work is solid, you will be in good shape.
