Where do most students live? How far from campus? Do any students purchase condos? Do you recommend any areas to live (one that combines close distance, affordability*, and safety)? Any neighborshoods to definitely avoid?Current D1 at CDM, was accepted Dec 2 last year (interviewed September). AMA! good luck everyone!
so this year things were obviously different for my class since we were entirely remote our first semester. most students live within walking distance of campus (168th) on the west side of Broadway. East of broadway is considered more dangerous (walking alone at night). I have a classmate who purchased an apartment but the vast majority of us rent off campus apartments for around 700-1300/person (cheapest rent you will find in manhattan)! A few classmates live in on-campus housing, but normally there isn't much availability and priority is given to other schools and students who live very far from NY. Up by 180th is also really nice and residential, also rent tends to be cheaper the farther you get from the hub of the hospital and CUMC schools. Anything W of Broadway between 160-180 is a fair bet. A few of my classmates are living in the upper west side or other parts of Manhattan, and while this usually happens more in D3/D4 years, I think there is less pressure to be on campus since we had our first semester remote. That being said, our next semester we will be multiple times a week for preclinic and anatomy lab, so for me being close to campus is a priority!Where do most students live? How far from campus? I have not. Does not seem like anyone has yet either. Just gotta hang in there a little bit longer!Anyone hear anything yet?
was it at 8:52PST like everyone else? if there's only one round of emails it sounds like i'm not hearing back today :/Just got an acceptance email!
Yup it was at 8:52 PST/ 11:52 ESTwas it at 8:52PST like everyone else? if there's only one round of emails it sounds like i'm not hearing back today :/
October 30thCongratulations everyone!
Just curious when did you all interview with Columbia?
That was the first available interview date at the time the email was sent. I’m not sure if that means you’re in a different round though. The spaces filled up quickly since initially I was offered a September interview date but that changed to October. Maybe it just means someone was quicker to jump on the reply button.the email I received said the first possible interview day was November 14th, does that mean that we are in different rounds?
I had my interview on Dec 4th so there's still a chance!ok thank you for letting me know!
I interviewed on Dec 5th, so I guess there is still a chance to hear good news.
