What are people's thoughts on the different housing options for a year-out for research at Columbia? I've never lived in a dorm before... and I don't think I really could deal with communal bathrooms/etc...

Thank you. I'm actually hoping for some detail on what these different buildings are like for students. It's hard for me to get a sense from the descriptions in the link.
