To anyone planning on attending Columbia: Have you received a package regarding registration? In the last letter I got, they said to expect a packet in early June re: registration etc. I haven't gotten anything apart from housing, financial aid and ID/facebook info. Am I missing anything or do I just have too much free time on my hands? :) Thanks!

I got a big envelope last week that had orientation info and a book on basic life support. did you get that?

No I didn't. I live in Maine and the mail service here rivals the Pony Express in terms of speed, but if you got it last week, I should have gotten it by now?!? I'll call them. Thanks for your response :)

I only got an envelope with this picture thing and then another one for housing which I just sent back.

QUESTION ON THE PICTURE THING: I am sending in an older pic of me where I supposedly look really different from how I look now. Can we update these pictures each year? Or are we stuck with them for 4 years?!? :)

ALSO: I am on the west coast and I never got a packet for orientation. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

The big packet I got was actually really damaged. They shipped it USPS using the Media Rate. Anyway, mine had clearly been opened and then taped shut again. I know some stuff was missing because my boyfriend got the same envelope. Maybe yours were so damaged that they couldn't deliver them? The only stuff that was important in there was the orientation schedule, general information packet, and a few forms (like what you want on your name tag, a survery on research interests, etc.).

When did you guys get this big packet?

last week sometime. maybe wednesday or thursday.

Hey what were you guys putting for an advisor? Anyone know if this actually makes a difference? I am trying to decide if I should be specific or general.....and scooby if no one has answered your other question...usually you keep your ID forever  When I did research there I kept it for a couple of years and they charged us $20 to get a new one (10 years ago

I talked to them and apparently some packets never got through. They got shredded in the mail b/c they put double the amount of material in the letters that they usually do and so many got returned without any contents! grrrr...

It's nothing THAT important is it?

There are some forms you need to fill out and send back like what should go on your name tag and your advisor preferences. I can't remember what the other ones were.

As far as filling out the advisor sheet, I put down emergency medicine because that's something I'm really interested in. Do you know if we get put in advisor groups or is it a one-on-one sort of thing?

Nothing that truely needed to be 2 day express if you ask me....didn't your acceptance letter get disturbed or take for ever being sent out there to the west coast scooby?

Actually trout,

Surprisingly I was the second SDNer to get the acceptance package. For some reason, I got it on Saturday over here and everyone else got it on Monday the following week.
:)
