Hey,

I was accepted to Columbia and am all set to go...
but I have no clue whether or not to stay on campus in a dorm, suite, apt of 3 or 5 people.

I'm attracted to the apt. b/c of the full kitchen since i'm a big cooker...but then again i'm from new orleans where i can just drive to the store.

if anybody has any input...

also, do they match roommates with yr, dental school, gender, and whatever else.

Thanks,
Terry

Terry,

I am also going to Columbia next year, and will possibly be looking for a roommate for this year. I am also trying to figure out where to stay.

If you want, you can PM me.

First, Congratulation on your acceptance, Terry and Buckyball!

I have an interview at Columbia in two weeks.
If you don't mind, can you give me some tips?
How long did it take to finish the interview?

Thank you!!!!

Hey PreDental,

Thanks for the congrats!

About the interview, don't sweat it! It's not that bad at all. Just be prepared to talk about yourself, your accomplishments, and so on.

It only lasts about 15-20 minutes. The rest is just the tour and stuff. Let me know how youlike it.

Me too,

I think the interview was very engaging...
The interview was about 30 minutes for me, but it seemed rather short b/c we talked about what i did right and wrong in my life.

one of the questions was why i went to Texas A&M..why apply to columbia since you're from the south...what could you change about yourself.

just know yourself, think about your accomplishments and pitfalls, and BE HONEST!

Hey buckyball..have you heard anything about the neighborhood or the atmosphere up there?
I like to bike, golf, and play sports...and I'm wondering if the other students still chill out.

Terry

I've heard that the area around Columbia is not safe at night, but during the day, it should be fine. About sports, I'm not sure what's available there. But, hey, it's New York! A very exciting city, so there must be something to do!

Hey guys, I was wondering how long after your interview you found out your acceptances at Columbia. I interviewed on Jan 17 and still havent' heard. When should I start getting worried?

It could take about three weeks. You met on a Thursday, and I doubt that they do anything on a Friday, so they probably didn't review the interviewed applicants' files.

I would call to find out when they are going to send you something, but just wait a little longer.

Good luck,

Bucky

Bucky,
Thanks alot. It just gets more and more frustrating as the time gets closer. They told us as the interview they would meet last Friday so I was just wondering. Hope everything works out. Take care.

Congrats to everybody who got in......and good luck if u are waiting.

I am living in the university apartments this year...and believe me, they are the best things here besides outside housing. :D As for the neighborhood here...it's not so bad on haven ave, since it is very close to school. Any other streets around here at night would be pretty risky. There is a gym here that pretty much sucks ass, but it does have machines that work the major muscle groups.

Oh yeah....I saw this cute chick that was in the interview group last week. If she also comes here, you guys will be lucky bastards.... <img border="0" alt="[Lovey]" title="" src="graemlins/lovey.gif" />

cheers

If you can get into the towers (1, 2 or 3) you'll live more comfortably. You'll have to find openings though (thru the towers management office i think)... you'll probably have to live w/ upperclass med or dental students. Bard Hall sucks, but most of your classmates are going to be there. Good luck.

I am attending columbia next year and I am going to the campus on monday to ask about the housing (I live in NY), if there is anything oyu want me to ask let me know, I will post on here after I get back, can't wait to meet all of you!!!
