So I was just at my Cornell interview, which I think went really well, except... I was having a hard time picturing myself there in Olin, or the library, or the lecture hall, or the PBL rooms, or the anatomy lab. Which was really sad because I really WANTED to love Cornell. I love Manhattan (this wasn't the problem) but things just weren't clicking for me.

So I was pining away for Columbia, and had decided to write Dean Frantz (?) a letter begging for an interview. I just finished drafting one tonight, typing out the final phrase... "I would like the opportunity to sit down with you in an interview and discuss the unique contributions I could make to what is sure to be an extraordinary class of 2010."... when my phone started abuzzin. It was a text message from my sister "Columbia interiew feb 15". She was checking my mail for me. I guess you just have to write the LOI for Columbia, you don't actually need to send it!

Needless to say, I'm psyched. (Do people still say that?)

Now I'm going out to celebrate, but first...

Sarah, I'm emailing you right now, but I thought I'd put Columbia in the title so you would see this!

Its odd how everyone gets different vibes from a certain place. I went to both Cornell and Columbia for interviews and got a very differnt impression. I loved the Cornell area and the PBL curriculum/few lectures. I wasn't into the traditional lecture curriculum at Columbia and especially sleeping in Bard Hall. However, I met students that were real happy at both. It comes down to a matter of preference I guess.

The curriculum was fine. It seemed to be a good mix of PBL and lecture. But yes, the vibes. The vibes were not fine.

Stupid Manhattan, I thought it was supposed to be the city that never sleeps! I'm going to bed.

Oh my LORD, I was reading this (clearly you KNOW I always search for threads on Columbia, haha) and I'm like... hmmm, I have a FRIEND who fits this description. And, of course, DBHVT confirmed my suspicions

Man, I AM neurotic.

See you this weekend!
