Combined programs -- can you apply while in med school?

Hi,

I'm thinking about combined programs with MD / DO in either MPH or PhD..........is it necessary to apply right away or can I wait until after I get in somewhere and then look at options? My main interest is psychology & I would like to do more research (as I have done quite a bit in my undergrad years) & get a PhD in psychology.

I think most schools allow you to embark on other degrees when you want to but usually people do it after first or second year. Also, you should find out (perhaps from a current PI) if a PhD is necessary for doing the type of work you want to do. There are MD researchers out there too!
