This is my night. This is my time of liberation. No more shackles. No more uncertainty. No more sleepless nights. No more waiting and anticipating. This time, I am going for nothing but the real thing. This is about my revival. I have been brought back to life. This is a time when an immigrant can truly sense the sweet taste of freedom and liberty that this great nation offers to those who struggle and work hard. I am sensing it, savoring it and loving it. After so much pain and so much doubt, the world finally pours all of its kindness on me just like the monsoon rain. Alas, how hard it is to describe one’s best day in words. A day in which both sunshine and rain bestow their mercy on the hopeless and the brokenhearted. On this beautiful day, I got accepted to two schools, and one of them is my TOP CHOICE!!!

Fellow SDNers, I have been offered the privilege of attending Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine class of 2010 this evening at 6:30 pm. I got a phone call from Dr. Cinotti, who said the nicest things to me and about how the committee reached to its decision.

I have made fatal mistakes during this application cycle but I have learned the hard way.

This weekend, my buddies and I will be dancing and drinking the night away.
i got in...

a new chapter in my life has began.....but the fighting spirit shall carry on!!

i wish you the best. i dont know what your status is at this time but the best advice i can give you is that IF you have decent stats, then you should campaign for your admission. i was a late late bird and my top choice is a picky school that has a small class so campaigning was necessary. i made sure that everybody in the admissions office knew my name and recognized my voice, i called many times to let them know that i am interested and agressive in my desire to get into their school. i sent excellent thank you letters and after i finished my inTviews i sent another letter notifying them that they are my top choice even after i had seen the other schools. this last letter made them feel that no matter how many schools i see, they remained my top choice and schools like it when you show them genuine interest in their program. Stony Brook offers a lot for so little so they really wanna make sure that you appreciate their program.

good luck....if you have good stats and you push it hard in a subtle way, then you're in

as someone who's been involved in dental school admissions, i can tell you your stats got you in. it's all about numbers, and expect the same if/when you apply for residency. all those thank you letters/emails did much less than you think. most barely got past a secretary into the garbage. in any case, perseverance is to be congratulated. enjoy your time off. read a few books - fiction and nonfiction. travel. eat a lot of oatmeal, whole grain, nuts, fruit and fresh fish. be ready for hard work. and get working on your time management skills. don't forget to exercise. sharpen your already above-average critical thinking skills. dental school is intellectually challenging and rewarding. stony brook is a fantastic program, small class size will be extremely advantageous. your classmates will appreciate someone like you.

thank you for those pearls of wisdom.

i have actually selected several good reads for the summer and i have a plan to further improve my critical thinking skills. i also have a plan to improve my diet and my sleeping habits. and yes, Stony's acceptance is an honor. i wish it for those who deserve it.

congratulations, me too!

Congrats to you and BONKERS...we should try to find a way to bottle that feeling. 😎
