Hi all, I've been really busy, so I have not been on in a while. My friend lives in FL and called me the other day to tell me that the OMD's/ODO's were running a commercial about ophthamologists; the gist of the ad was the training the OMD's/ODO's have versus "other eye care providers" and basically why they're the most qualified practitioners to provide eye care. She said that she was shocked that they would run such ads because she had never seen another profession do such a thing. I'm back and forth between TX and LA have not seen anything similar. Has anyone else seen it, or anything similar? She's very trustworthy (PhD organic chemist), so I do not think she is making this up.

I bet the commercials are part of the FL Medical Association's effort to lobby against legislation that's been proposed to allow ODs to prescribe oral medications: http://www.mdeye.org/news/2409.php

Ive never seen ads like this in Texas. I'd be really upset if they ran that here. You're right.. it's probably the the Florida AMA trying to battle the new legislation.
