i'm confused......

i was doing qbank.... and the guy had step pneumoniae. they stated that tx should be w/ Penicillin. However, in the book 'pathophys for boards and wards' it states use cetraxone, macrolides, or fluroquinolone. PubMed kinda says use Pen at first...but resistance is emerging so use the med that the ' pathophys for boards and wards stated' .

so on the real deal...i dont know which one i should pick ? i'm assuming NOT penicillin and rather one of hte other ones.....even though qbank says use Penicillin 🙄

any help ya'll ?

p.s i know i must have spelled a lot of rx's wrong

I second that...

pcn still works for Strep. Pneumo. - most common cause of CAP. and I believe PCN also work for Neisseria. spp. go figure...
