check the schools you're curious in to see if you can do that. I saw at least one school that said you need pre-reqs done by the spring semester of the year you would attend, therefore summer classes would not work.

As long as you finish your pre-reqs before you matriculate it is fine.

I've seen schools that said that summer courses (the summer before matriculation) don't count also. Don't remember which ones but I've definitely seen it.
