Good to hear that you're going to the OMAC. When you do go, try to get to know one of the admission counselors or people associated with it. Pick their brain and ask good questions. I had talked with one of them, and ended up seeing her in my interview and she remembered me.
I'm thinking of working the OMAC so I might see you there.
Eric714- I'm deciding whether or not I want to work OMAC or go to the sports med trip in AZ. Supposedly there is more interest in the MS-I class for people that want to go on the trip, but I'm not too sure about it just yet. Hopefully we can get the ball rolling soon on this though.
I know you were asking EQ (Eric) about this but I just had to jump in...I would highly recommend going to the Sports Med Trip in Arizona...I went last year and it was awesome!! And it should be even better this year (I would go if it wasn't for the boards looming over my head)...you get great practice on doing over a 100 physicals! You'll be a step up over your classmates and you will have an easy time during ICM stuff next year when you start doing full History and Physicals on patients. Not to mention the night life in Glendale, AZ! ha ha <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />
Encourage your classmates to go. You won't regret it!
Kira is exactly right... The Arizona Physicals was probably my best experience of my first year. You were literally thrown 80 - 100 athletes to do physicals on. It's great b/c there are docs standing by to help out and they'll try to teach you as well.
Things you'll never learn your 1st year, but from AZ are hernia checks & EKG placement. I really wish I didn't have OMM Written b/c I would go too.
Night life was cool too, the AZCOM students were real friendly and wanted to take us out. I went to a bar one night and then a club the next night.
So you better go so I can live vicariously through you on this trip!
