Computer/PDA Added to COA

Has anyone bought a computer or PDA and had it added to the COA, covered by federal loans? I've read that in your four years of school you can get one computer (up to $2K) and/or one PDA (up to $500) added to your loan.

my school allows for the purchase of a computer to be included in the COA, I believe most other schools do as well since a computer is considered essential to your education.
