I graduated from a foreign dental school and then came to the states 3 years ago. However, since then and due to family reasons I did not study or finish any of the required exams (NDB, etc). However, now I would like to get back on track but I do not know where to start. I hear about so many different programs and I don't know which one is which any more. there is
Advanced Dental Programs, or
International dentist program, or
Masters, or
others, or

Am I going to be able to practice if I went to any of these programs? What is my chance to get into any of these programs? Any recommendation? Any recommendation from people in illinois or Wisconsin? I heard some programs will only allow you to practice back in your country but not here in the states, which one are these?

I have so many more questions so please advice as I am extremely confued

Hi HR,
to practise in us you need to have a DDS DEGREE from a US dental school and NBDE scores is one if the major thing for it.
I suppose there are some states where you can practise with masters degre{refer to the forum}
plan and decide what is best for you
all the best

hi!
For practising in US you need a DDS(in most of the states). The qualifying program for foreign trained dentists is known as ' advanced standing program' (varies in lenght from school to school ,2-3 years) for admission into the program , one is needed to take part 1and for some schools also part 2 of the NBDE. You can write for more information to
joint commission on national dental examinations
Ameican dental association
211 East Chicago Avenue
suite 1846,
Chicago ,Illinois 60611-2678
They would most probably send you an information booklet , along with a form for part 1 (which is offerd in july and dec. every year) on the following subjects
Anatomy
dental anatomy
physiology/biochem
patho/ micro
GOOD LUCK
