Hay everyone,
I really need some advice on my med school application. I have to answer some questions but I don?t know what to say🙄
Some of the questions are;
1) What do you think/feel are likely to be the worst thing about being a doctor?
Telling your patient they have a terminal illness, or telling a patients family their loved one has died. Can anyone think of anything else? I think this answer is too simple though...🙁
2) How do you cope in situations where there is not enough time to finish a task?
I accept my limitations and plan my time effectively so that I may finish the task at hand as soon as possible.
3) What do you do when you have 3 or 4 things that are all urgent?
Prioritize and plan ahead. This will enable me to finish the tasks in order of urgency....eah! That does not sound right? Help!
3) What would you expect to be the main problem faced by you during your training as a doctor?
What on earth could I possibly say that won?t sound stupid? I can?t say memorizing things, because that's very important aspect of training as a doctor. Can't say time management...I am sure that?s a big NO NO. But what?
4) Describe a situation in medicine where ethical or political issues have had a significant impact on what happened.
OK here I was planning to describe the case of two con-joined Siamese babies who where born in England because their parents came from a Catholic European country. The two baby girls needed to be separated because both girls shared a liver and heart, if the girls were not separated they would both die. The doctors at the Hospital felt the only logical decision would be to separate the girls and save the stronger twin. However, the parents strongly oppose the decision. They believed that only God could choose not the doctors. This went to the High Court and 3 judges had to decide using the advice presented by independent doctors. In the end the judges decided that since both girls would die if they were not separated, one of them should be given that chance of life by separating them. The parents, as far as I know, could not go back to their home country because they felt that their only surviving daughter would be treated differently in a largely religious town.
I would appreciate any help you guys could give me 🙂
:clap
