i moved here from canada a couple of months ago and want to apply to med school here but i'm a little bit confused about the process. I'm an american citizen so i don't have to worry about what schools i can apply to and not. I've been reading the posts and that's definitely helped me realize that I need to apply early, especially seeing as my undergrad GPA wasn't the greatest but i did do a master's degree to up my GPA. The thing that I was wondering about is when it comes to LORs what it is that I need to do. I've contacted a few people about writing me letters and they've all agreed to but I guess what i'm confused about is that I noticed people saying that they had their LOR packages all done up when they applied through AMCAS...do i totally have this wrong because I thought you needed to wait until you had the secondary application in order to send off LORs to your desired schools.

I'm really really confused about this whole process so any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are LOR clearing houses (interfolio, your school's career services office, the pre-med advisor's office at your school, etc.) and I think when people recommend that you have your LORs ready and squared away they just mean that you should have your LORs ready to be sent on cue. This way when you get secondary applications you should be able send off everything promptly, LORs included.
