So, I'm a guy and absolutely know nothing about cooking! I have to learn fast so that I can be prepared when I'm finally in school next year. Anyone in a similar situation? Any tips?? :/

You'll get the hang of putting some Ramen into boiling water.

Get some easy cookbooks and you'll have no problem. A rice cooker and slow cooker are good appliances to have.

If you're talking about staying on a budget then definitely look into meal prep - make a weeks worth of food on the weekend and consume throughout the week. The most important thing for me was variety. I get bored eating the same thing pretty easily so I need to make a few different options that I alternate from.

Here are some resources that might be helpful to you:
-Meal prep: https://www.reddit.com/r/MealPrepSunday/
-Ask reddit college meal recipes: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/...is_a_cheap_meal_that_every_collegeuniversity/
-Slow cooking reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/slowcooking/
-Easy cooking: https://www.youtube.com/user/BrothersGreenEats
-My favorite cooking channel on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/foodwishes
-More advanced techniques but definitely fun to watch: https://www.youtube.com/user/chefsteps

After a bit you'll learn what flavors make good combinations. For example, now when i'm cooking any basic protein I can improvise ingredients without using a recipe. Also, even the basics can be really impressive to others. I hosted tons of dinners in undergrad all the time!

Good luck :)

What Scrub said to an extent.

Cook in bulk. Fridge and microwave.

When you get bored, have something that you can toss in the oven while you go do other stuff.

Get you a George Foreman grill. Best decision I made in college.

I recommend two books
1) "The Food Lab" by Kenji Lopez
2) Americas Test Kitchen most recent complete season book

Would also recommend Foodwishes (Chef John) on youtube

Too much time. Eat Ramen plain and increase efficiency exponentially

Thanks for the help guys! I am going to start learning how to cook soon! Is it difficult?
