I heard this one today and I can vouch for it:

A women (non URM) applied to med school and got no interviews. Applied again, received 2 invites but no acceptances. She was going to give up but her parents begged her to try one more time. So she applied a 3rd time, and the only school that accepted her was Yale.

Just goes to show you how crazy this whole process is!!

It's obviously a crapshoot when **** like this happens. Still, maybe she had one of those really specific personal statements where she mentioned that she wanted to go to Yale. That would make everyone but them want her wouldn't it?

Why is it that stories like this just keep me going???....and just when i have begun to consider submission. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

The med school application process has showed me that things really do happen for a reason. We just don't know what they are at the time!

Congrats to those who know where they're going and to those who don't know yet, don't take no for an answer. :)

its stories like that help me keep focused considering my poor collegiate past.
