coordinating interviews

I have an interview coming up, and I want to coordinate it with other schools in that city. I know its a long shot, but I want to email these schools and let them know I will be in the area. Does anyone have any advice for how to do this?

Dear Admissions Office,
I wanted to note that I will be interviewing in in the X city area. I am interested in learning more about Y school and was wondering if I could schedule a visit during that time. Thank you for your consideration.

i did that by phone. schools will tell you that tours/visits are only for invited interviewees. at least the schools i've called said that.

that's what i figured. i tried this with some NY schools, and one of them invited me a week later for a completely different date, so it was clear they didnt read my email. oh well, its worth a try. I'm spending SO much on airfare.
