Cornell in Qatar

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was seriously considering it, and I even requested info. They sent me a whole lot of info and I'm even subscribed (somehow) to their newsletter. Apparently they go wild if you show them interest. But nah, I'm sorry but I wouldn't be comfortable overseas just now.

Wait, why would they want US students to go to Qatar? Are the Qatari's hoping they'll stay and practice afterwards? Otherwise I see no incentive in them inviting Cornell to start a medical school there.

Despite the Cornell name, the med school in Qatar is considered a foreign med school, so anybody who goes there and wants to practice medicine in the states must complete the ECFMG process just like a regular FMG would.

Dont believe me?

Look at their FAQ and see for yourself.

Cornell-Qatar is a school for Qatari citizens, middle easterners, and others who want to practice medicine in the region. If Americans go there thinking they have a shortcut to practicing in the US, they are sorely mistaken.

Yeah that sounds about right.
