i stayed w a student host... hotels in new york are extremely expensive... if u cant find a student host, stay at a hostel they range from 50-80 a night, and are decent

I stayed with a student host too.

I stayed with a friend who's a student at Cornell. I highly suggest finding a student whose room you can crash in or a friend in NYC who has a place you can stay at. It's nice to only have to walk down the street to get to the interview location. Also, bring a book - there's lots of downtime!

When I asked the admissions office about this I was told that Cornell doesn't have a formal hosting program, but email them anyway and they'll try to find someone for you. They also send you a list of local hotels, if you don't know anyone in the area.

yea i got that email, my interview's in two weeks, tho, how soon should i reserve a hotel room? any recommendations for hotels?

Here's the hotel list they gave me. I ended up staying with a host, but I hear the Bentley is really nice, if somewhat expensive. There are cheaper options. I made a reservation at the Bentley (didn't want to navigate NYC subways with all my luggage the morning of my interview) but canceled it and they didn't charge me any fees.

You could reserve a room now and cancel it if you get a host. Check the cancellation policy - most are 24- or 48-hour notice. Better safe than sorry, and the sooner you reserve a room the cheaper it is 🙂 Good luck on your interview!
