Can someone help me? I 'm interested in these two specialties well kinda torn between these two specialities and would like the pros and cons including residency. I've researched what I could but really couldn't find any solutions. SOOOOOOO I said since most of the members on this forum are senior members that know it all  I'd post it. That was a compliment :D

And tonight was the night I was going to ask you if my long distance relationship would survive. Bummer. I guess I'll have to call Cleo!

Based on the fact that this person has posted multiple threads with the same question in multiple forums, I am going to guess that she is asking for a comparison between anesthesiology and ob/gyn. Do I get to go to Final Jeopardy?

Good gosh, Ob/gyn and Anesthesia what a difference. And, gel1 gets the cookie for figuring it out. His/her crytal ball must be fired up. :D

    OB/GYN-
Surgical specialty, very demanding, fairly competitive, terrible call, get to deliver lots of little miracles, have to inflict the pain of circumcison on sweet little boy babies   Sorrow of poor outcomes. Lots of litigation. Some of the gyn tumors are horrible. Ovarian for instance. Lots of real patient contact. Can be a primary care provider for your patients.

    Anesthesia:
Relatively painless residency, fairly non-competitive residency, usually fairly set schedules, not bad call, nurse anes. take alot of call for you, nurse anes. may take your job eventually. In private practice normally you do not do your own cases, but instead supervise. If things are good job is boring, if things are bad everyone looks at anesthesia. Some of the surgeons treat anesthesia like a subordinate. Right now you can make tons of money. Not as much patient contact, at least not while they are awake anyway.

    Hope this helps.

Undergrad? Ummm, I'm near the end of my 3rd year and I still haven't got a clue about what to do? Before you tear yourself up, wait until you have done some rotations.

Don't blame us, you asked the question without telling us what two specialties you were interested in. We were just having a little fun. ;)

I was being serious. You have quite awhile to go before you have to decide. While it is good that you have some idea, you certainly do not have to be "torn" yet.
