Hey guys!
As the 1st is almost here in two days I have a couple questions.
For the application, I have my 2 lors from my science professors done. The dentist I shadow and my ex manager at my job are still working on theirs. I heard that they can finish them mid june and give them to me and I should be fine. If thats true, then I can submit my application before I get the lors? Also, how does it work with transcripts? Do you have to have those first before you submit your app or do you have them sent somewhere? Im taking my DAT on the 16th but i know that is fine as far as time wise. I want to have my application in as soon as I possibly can so within a few days after the 1st. Thanks in advance!

You shouldn't have any LORs in your possession. Unless you're using a letter service (like the ASU one), then you'll just tell AADSAS who is writing them and in which format (elec/paper) they'll be submitting them and your writers will receive instructions from AADSAS how to send them directly to AADSAS.

You can definitely submit your application before the LORs. That won't stop AADSAS from processing your app.

You just need your unofficial transcripts in front of you to input every collegiate class you've taken into the application. Then you'll spit out a Transcript Matching Form you'll take to your respective registrars so they can mail said form and an official transcript to AADSAS so they can make sure you didn't just lie when you input all your classes and grades.

Thanks for the response! Yeah I don't have them in my possession. I am submitting them to ASU. I gave all my letter writers the form and address where they send it to the prehealth office and from my understanding I let the office know when to send them out. Thanks for the clarification on the time for submitting stuff. How long does it take to fill out the app in general?

That part I don't know. I'm in your boat. Maybe a seasoned vet will come in here and set us straight.

I'm still a little uncertain about ASU's letter service. Last I checked it sounded like we put nothing in LORs and just give ASU our ID to send them to AADSAS once they have all arrived. A former applicant told me to put the names in and even give ASU the matching forms even though they don't need them.

As a reapplicant, I'll be filling out my application for the second time on June 1st.

From what I remember last year, I would say actually filling out the app takes 1 or 2 hours, and that's if you have everything all ready to go. (Mostly having your personal statement completed and ready to just copy and paste). The longest part is typing in all of your coursework. You basically have to enter your entire transcript.

The FAQ section of the AADSAS website is helpful right now, as it tells you pretty much everything the application will ask for, like what you should include in your personal statement, etc.

As for transcripts and LORs, I don't know of any ways to get a head start on them before the AADSAS portal opens up. The FAQ says you can't even use the transcript request form from last year, in case you wanted to get sneaky and send it to your registrar early. And sorry but I don't know anything about the ASU letter service.

Hope that helps!

Did you see that starting this year you'll be able to import some of your data from last cycle? There are no specifics yet, but wouldn't the coursework be nice?

Question about imputing classes: Do you have to write out the entire course name including the descriptive part that follow after the colon? For example, General Expository Writing 50: Greek Antiquities, or can you just write the first part? Another example would be "Women and Gender Studies 53; GaGa for Gaga: Sex, Gender, and Identity" Does the AADSAS give us space to write the entire thing out?

Its best to just write as much of the course title as possible.

don't remember if there is a character limit on course titles.

I can get unofficial transcripts they just write big unofficial on it. but I used the course titles on those.

I'm assured that there will be no confusion of courses not matching up between what i input and what's on my transcript.

About the lors. I am having my lors sent to ASU. The letter writer send the letter along with a paper signed by them and I saying were not lying and all that stuff. ASU said that I call them and tell them when I want the letters to be mailed out to schools but AADSAS says it want's its own paper signed by the letter writers along with their letter Would I still need the letter writers to sign the AADSAS form or not since the letters going from ASU to the schools directly?

Why don't you just fill in the evaluators info on the aadsas site? Then either print out the matching form or submit their email addy. That way they can just send it straight to aadsas.
I can understand if you are sending it to ASU for a combined/committee letter or something. OR if ASU prehealth wants it in your file/folder.
But why are you doing all these extra steps? aadsas set it up to make it easy/uniform for the applicants. Or is your case special? Did I miss something...Apologies if I did

i didn't know that they could email it to AADSAS when I asked like a month ago. I can't get a hold of my two science letter writers to ask them if they can just submit via email so I am not sure what to do.

Gotcha, yeah, if you entered the evaluator's email addy then aadsas would send them an email with directions.
Your other option is to enter their info, print out the matching form, and sign it. Then if you are able to track down the evaluator, give it to them so they can attach it to their letter and send it to aadsas. Best of luck to you!

ya I just let them all know via email to submit it electronically to AADSAS hopefully they get it! thanks for the help
