Is there a difference?

I've read some online sites that said that these two techniques are completely different from each other, and some other sites use the two terms interchangeably. Please advice. Thank you

As far as I know, there is no difference between the two. The idea behind this theory is that rhythmic pulsations of the brain generate a hydraulic force through the movement of CSF. This force causes a palpable movement of the cranial bones, which in turn pull on the meninges. The meninges attached to the cranium are continuous all the way down the spinal cord to the sacrum. Therefore, if the cranium moves, the sacrum moves.

This is one theory that I think many DO students struggle to accept (especially when they are being told in anatomy that the sutures in the cranium do not allow movement).

Does anyone elses baloney detector start beeping when they hear "Craniosacral?"

I have a hard time accepting that as anything more feasable than Therapeutic Touch or Faith Healing. Please, correct me if I am wrong, but IMHO, these are things that should be kept out of medicine...

Proper terminology is Cranial Osteopathy or OCF - Osteopathy in the Cranial Field.

Many people use the term "craniosacral" and you will find that people often use it interchangibly.

However the term "Craniosacral" also raises to point the Upledger institute and other high questionable teaching insitutions which will train any lay person willing to pay the course fee.

Stick with "OCF" or just call it "cranial". People will know what you are talking about.
