crap, I found an error in my primary, and called AMCAS to change it, but they said I couldnt after it was submitted. Is there any way I can call someone else higher on the amcas ladder, or make a bigger fuss to get it changed? It has not been verified yet. It's a date error in my activities section

thanks

I don't believe this can be changed, does not seem like a big deal, though. If it's really important to you, I'd just mention it on secondary applications.

It's over.

wait for next year

... or yeah you can just mention it in the secondary apps, or just write the schools an e-mail. They actually will keep those e-mails in your file during the review process if you ask them to. They did for me anyways.

All my friends who got into med school this past year said they had errors in their AMCAS

call someone higher up? Get over it, someday mistakes are actually going to be important and maybe you'll learn from them instead of trying to circumvent them. its no big deal. Most people make some small errors. Its too late now, just make sure you check your secondaries a little better

ps. I made some slight errors and did fine this time around.

Well, exactly how bad IS this error?

"I've been volunteering at the --------- hospital since 1906" type of bad

or

"I actually started in May and not March" type of bad

?

Probably more funny and not as prone to get you an instant rejection as the "use the wrong school's name in secondary" error.

Plus, it'd probably give the interviewer a chance to bring it up..."so...exactly how long have you been a volunteer exactly?"

Honestly, don't worry about it. I made a mistake on my AMCAS primary, and went through the process of emailing every school to tell them that I wrote the wrong year. Looking back, I'm pretty sure that #1 - no one noticed or cared and #2 - I probably made myself look like more of a spaz for drawing attention to the mistake. I would just leave well enough alone and, if asked about it, laugh and say, oops yeah that was supposed to say "xxxx". But I guarantee you no one is looking closely enough to notice.

yup! the mistake was exactly May ---> March.

Thanks for all the input, I'll just forget about it and leave it =)

You're fine... everyone makes a mistake.. Even if you're a professional, it's hard to fill out a 20 page application, check it a million times, and still not make a mistake.

Not sure if this is worse, but I did Sept-Dec 2007 instead of Sept-Dec 2006 for my study abroad program.

It basically puts the activity out of chronological order and makes it seemingly overlap with the stuff that I actually did do during the fall of 2007.

It contradicts my transcript, which lists my study abroad classes as Fall 2006.

On top of that, I spelled "program" as "protram."

:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:

I'm not going to send the schools a letter or e-mail telling them to correct it. I'll explain at the interview if they ask. (It was the 2006-2007 academic year, but the event was in the fall. Therefore, I accidentally selected 2007 instead of 2006.)

That's it? May to friggin March? I expected something a bit more epic. Like, instead of "photography" for one of your activities, you put "pornography"

* I just saw that the OP has a 39 MCAT. She can explain the error at the many interviews she most certainly will get.

ROFL.

If someone DOES that, will s/he please report back? I really want to know what happens.

LOL. I know that march vs may doesnt matter too much, but if someone paid attention, I say that i quit a position that was from march--> may, and then started the next one... in march. The 2nd position was sought after because the 1st one blew, so my whole "march" thing nullifies that explanation. Anyways, I'm letting it go. If Shemarty, the app queen, can let it go, so can i :D

Every one of my classes was half a year off, and AMCAS didn't correct it after receiving my transcripts. I think they May/March deal won't even appear on the radar. I wouldn't mention the issue unless directly asked.
