I am a resident who will be starting his advanced PGY-2 year at a new hospital starting this summer.

So a guy recently tried to attack me in my home and I defended myself by punching him in the face. He filed criminal misdemeanor charges against me (Assault and Battery) and I reciprocated with charges against him. These charges are not official yet and will not be on my criminal record. As a result I have a few questions.

    1. If the charges are made official - how will this affect me?
    2. If I am found guilty, how will this affect me?
    3. At what point am I obligated to tell the hospital I will be starting at? Could the cancel my contract with them?

He'd gotten alot worse than a punch in the face from where I'm from.

Was he breaking and entering or was it assault on your part? I say close this thread and stick to legal advice only.
