Patient in clinic today with Obamacare insurance product and very obscure pharmacy benefit. Recommendation at last visit was for low dose fentanyl patch for chronic VCF/scoliosis pain not responsive to vertebral augmentation, bisphonates, nasal calcitonin, etc. Insurance wouldn't pay for patches due to step therapy restrictions, etc. She got online and crowdfunded the cash price for the patches!

We can expect to see more of this.
