"cush" IM programs

Which of the big IM programs hava a "cush" reputation? ie treat there interns well and are decently competitive for fellowships?

do a search. there have been a few discussions on the subject. northwestern generally gets the award for "most cush" while UTSW generally gets the "least cush" award.

Santa Barbara Cottage has such a rep I believe in California, maybe the whole US.

I remember thinking The Methodist in Dallas was cushius maximus. It is the #1 choice for Anaesthesia peeps at UTSW to do their prelim.

Northwestern and WashU are very cush.

Northwestern is cush in the sense that they gave great ancillary staff and facilities, so you waste no time during your day making sure patients are getting whatever test you ordered. They are also strict on the 80 hour thing. But it is still a very academic-oriented place -- if you are looking for a place to slack-off, NU isn't it -- you're better off at some community program.

Why would you want a cush program? You dont learn as much at cush programs.
