I was wondering if anybody knew anything about schools in the midwest, south, and out west (only privates schools in these areas) that have rigid cutoffs for what GPAs they will consider acceptable (e.g. Creighton). A big portion of my GPA comes from an east coast school (Columbia, 3.3) and even though I feel I'm competetive to east coast schools I'm not sure whether schools in other parts of the country will care as much what school I went to. I don't want to take the time and spend the money to apply if my application is not even going to be looked over.

The private schools in California: Stanford and USC are pretty demanding on out-of-state students. Well actually they're pretty demanding on in-state students as well! It's really hard to get into these schools as California residents. Stanford's average gpa is I think 3.7.
